Out of Sight. Front of Mind.
Designed to work harder, look better and feel effortless
This project began with the removal of an internal wall, opening up the space to incorporate the adjoining corridor and unlock the full potential of the footprint. What was once a confined and inefficient layout was transformed into a more open, practical, and well-connected space.
The door was upgraded to incorporate a glazed panel, while the original small, deteriorating timber-framed window was replaced with a larger uPVC unit, maximising natural light and enhancing the sense of space.
Originally, the room lacked structure, storage, and visual appeal, with exposed services, limited worktop space, and an overall cluttered feel. The redesign focused on creating a utility space that works seamlessly for everyday use while introducing a clean, modern aesthetic.
A bespoke framework was introduced to house the washer and dryer, elevating them to an ergonomic working height. Beneath, concealed pull-out drawers were designed to support laundry baskets during loading and unloading, before tucking neatly away to maintain a clean, uncluttered finish.
Custom-built cabinetry and integrated shelving ensure that laundry and household essentials are neatly stored while remaining easily accessible. The layout was carefully planned to meet the needs of a large family, with every element positioned to maximise usability, improve workflow, and create a more efficient environment.
A new worktop and utility sink provide a dedicated functional area, enhancing both practicality and day-to-day convenience.
The walls were clad in durable, easy-clean panelling, ensuring the space remains fresh, practical, and low-maintenance while maintaining a clean, modern finish. The standout feature of the space is the vertical slatted wall panelling, which not only conceals pipework and services but also introduces texture and depth, transforming a purely functional room into one with a strong design identity. This is complemented by patterned floor tiles, adding character while remaining durable and easy to maintain.
Lighting was upgraded with recessed ceiling spotlights, ensuring the space is bright, clean, and functional at any time of day.
What was once an overlooked and purely practical area is now a refined, highly functional utility room — designed to simplify daily routines while elevating the overall feel of the home.
