From cold corner to quiet luxury
Small private space into an elevated experience
This project began with a narrow, cold, and damp downstairs toilet that lacked both comfort and visual appeal. Poor insulation, cold flooring, and dated finishes left the space feeling uninviting and disconnected from the rest of the home.
The transformation focused first on what you feel, not just what you see. A wet underfloor heating system was installed, completely redefining the space — delivering consistent, energy-efficient warmth from the ground up. By removing cold spots and improving overall thermal performance, the room was transformed from the coldest part of the house into one of the most comfortable.
With the environment reset, the design was rebuilt around clean lines and efficient use of space. A compact vanity unit and WC were carefully positioned to maximise usability while maintaining a balanced, uncluttered layout.
Finishes were selected to elevate the room beyond its footprint. Patterned floor tiles introduce depth and character, while marble-effect wall panelling reflects light and enhances the sense of space, creating a clean and refined aesthetic.
Half-height wall detailing adds structure and contrast, bringing a layered, considered feel that blends classic and contemporary design.
A statement vertical radiator provides both visual impact and supplementary heating, working in harmony with the wet underfloor system.
Lighting was designed to soften the space. A feature chandelier introduces warmth and a sense of luxury, transforming what would traditionally be a purely functional room into something far more considered.
Natural light is retained through the window, with soft finishes and tones ensuring the space remains bright, calm, and cohesive throughout the day. What was once a cold, damp, and overlooked corner which felt more like and outdoor WC is now a warm, refined, and high-performing space — proof that even the smallest rooms can deliver a premium experience when every detail is considered.
