Where everyday moments become the best ones

Gather, eat, drink and be merry

This project began with a simple idea — create a breakfast bar that would become more than just a place to eat. It needed to be a focal point. A space where children would naturally gather, and where friends would stay longer over coffee, conversation, and drinks. The impact was immediate.

Where the default used to be sitting in front of the TV, the children are now at the breakfast bar before dinner is even served — drawn to the space without being asked. It has become the natural centre of the home. And it doesn’t stop there.

What was once a dumping ground of a standard worktop has been completely transformed. Now, it’s the first thing people notice. A talking point. A space friends are drawn to — and are very envious of.

The design centred around contrast. A striking live edge timber slab was selected to form the feature surface, chosen for its depth, movement, and natural character. Rather than refining the timber into something uniform, its organic edge was retained and enhanced — allowing the natural contours to define the shape of the space.

Resin was introduced to stabilise and elevate the timber, filling natural voids and enriching the grain. The result is a high-gloss, durable surface that catches the light and brings out the full depth of the wood, creating a constantly changing visual depending on where you stand. This natural feature was paired with a clean, modern kitchen base — creating a deliberate contrast between raw material and sharp, contemporary lines. A minimal support leg provides strength while keeping the design visually light.

The overhang was carefully designed to create a comfortable seating area, making the space equally suited to quick breakfasts, homework sessions, or relaxed evenings with friends. What began as a functional surface is now a defining feature — not just changing how the space looks, but how it’s experienced every day.
